Ans. For the formation of a shadow three things are necessary — a source of light, an opaque object and a screen.

(b) When can an object be seen?

Ans. An object can be seen when light reflected from its surface enters our eyes.

(c) What is a shadow?

Ans. When an opaque object comes in the way of light, light does not pass through it. The dark patch formed on the screen behind the object is called its shadow.
